I have a Renault Clio 1.9d (1998) The handbreak light has started to come on and then go off again? i've been told that this is an indicator that a service is due? is this correct?Why does my handbreak light flash even though its down completely?
It is an indicator most likely, check your break fliud and if that is full they you just have a faulty sensor( it doesn`t recognize that the break lever is down) how many miles do you have on the car? if over 70,000 you need break pads.Why does my handbreak light flash even though its down completely?
could be a couple things 1. brake switch needs to be adjusted. 2. does it go off when you accelerate and come back on when you take your foot off the pedal? might be an alternator prob. or brake switch is going completely out or brake fluid is low and when your going over rough roads or bumps the sensor goes off.
could be anything from a faulty sensor to low brake fluid to needing an adjustment for the cable that connects the handle to the brake.
take it to a qualified mech to be sure.
Normally this also is the pad wear indicator. Get it to a dealers pretty soon
