What's the difference between natural and artificial (or is it called flash?) light? ?

As fascinating as it is..I'm so confused by this whole world of photography...

When you have a normal professional camera, and you don't use the flash, thats called using natural light, right?

And when you use the flash on a normal professional camera, is that called flash light? or is it only called artificial/flash light when you use the equipment?

Help meeee please!!What's the difference between natural and artificial (or is it called flash?) light? ?

Correct, light created by the sun is natural light. Anything other than that excluding flash is called ambient light. This could be a combination of natural, lamps, ceiling lights, whatever, anything thats already present on the scene. Anything you introduce to the scene is artificial, this could be a flash, strobe, or even other lights. A good photographer will learn to balance and utilize all three types of light in different situations for maximum flexibility and creative style. If your looking to get into lighting like this check out strobist.blogspot.com. Its a blog that is dedicated to off camera flash techniques for about as cheap as you can go. Check out the lighting 101 section to get started. If you really want to go cheap though, the easiest way to start is to use a window that has good light coming through, and a piece of white foam core board as a reflector. Place the window on one side of the subject and the foam core on the other and then position the subject accordingly to get different dynamic lighting situations. Remember too, that cloudy days act as a diffuser for sunlight, and the light coming through the window on those days, as long as its not too dark, can be very nice and even.
Natural light is sunlight.

Artificial light is light from lamps and overheads, etc.

Ambient or available light is whatever light is in the scene (whether natural or artificial) without a flash.
